Pastry Club welcomes its first guest chef

Kino and Whitelock’s Ale House, the oldest pub in Leeds, are joining forces next month for a duo of special events celebrating the distinctive styles of their respective Head Chefs.

On Monday 4 March, Nick Robertson from Whitelock’s joins the Kino team to create the dishes for our monthly Pastry Club, before Kino’s Josh Whitehead repays the favour by designing and cooking the menu for Whitelock’s Dinner Club on the last Thursday in the month.

As the first guest chef, Nick’s culinary pedigree includes stints at The Tetley, The Black Swan on Call Lane, Crafthouse in Leeds, and The New Ellington when it gained two AA rosettes, before he joined Whitelock’s in 2019. Nick will be bringing his unique style and skills to the Kino kitchen when he devises next month’s Pastry Club menu, the content of which will only be revealed on the night.

“I’m very much looking forward to cooking at Kino and sharing my favourite ways of making pastry the star of the show. Later in the month, it will be my turn to hand over the Whitelock’s kitchen to Josh as he cooks for our Dinner Club, a well-established and popular fixture in the Leeds dining diary. It’s always great to have a chef you admire in the house, and I can’t wait to see – and taste – the results.”

Tickets cost £45 per head for each event with vegetarian options available. Early booking is advised as places are limited.
